2nd Biennial Spinal Cord Injury

Acute and Chronic Management & Promising Research

MAHEC, in collaboration Mission Hospitals Trauma Services, CarePartners Rehabilitation Hospital, and the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, is sponsoring the second biennial WNC conference on spinal cord injury at its new facilities on Saturday, November 5. SCI: Acute and Chronic Management & Promising Research will bring together an exciting platform of experts to present topics that range from onset of injury through recovery. The 2011 conference, under the direction of David Wheeler, MD, FAAFP, (a practicing family physician with spinal cord injury) will open the conference with an overview of the day’s events. Dr. Zibin Guo, PhD. & William R. Johnson, D.C., F.A.C.O. will appear on Comcast Cable 3 and Charter Cable 5 on Friday, September 18 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. The program will be moderated by Ms. Peggy Stanfield. They will be discussing Seated Tai Ji, from it's inception to the present and how it can help seniors and home bound people improve their quality of life.

International Tai Chi Symposium

Sponsored by Studio Helix –Physical therapy and Fitness - Northampton MA, Applied Tai Ji - Chattanooga, TN, Holyoke Community College Continuing Education. Dr. Zibin Guo will conduct a two day training workshop on Four Moves of Seated Tai Ji Quan.

This instructor certification workshop is designed for program/activity directors, recreational therapists, physical therapists, fitness professionals and those who provide health care services to individuals with ambulatory difficulties.

Dr. Zibin Guo, a professor at UTC and creator of Wheelchair Tai Ji, held a workshop for directors and employees of various facilities for the elderly.

The workshop, hosted by the Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging, was a huge success and Dr. Guo is planning more workshops in the near future.
